Go to download The Port of La Luz hosts a research project on the energy extracted from the movement of waves (wave energy), developed since 2014 by the company Wedge Global. This is a project in which, as the project manager, Marcos Álvarez, points out, no type of mechanical conversion is involved, but rather the momentum of the wave itself is used to generate a mechanism that produces energy directly. Give strength to the idea In its first phase, a prototype of this project was generating energy for 3,000 hours thanks to an agreement with Plocan. Afterwards, it was transported to Puerto de la Luz to continue carrying out research that is oriented, “intuitively”, to provide robustness to the technology. Álvarez indicates that the prototype has worked according to his expectations and now what it is about is creating a more robust and commercially viable second generation.
